FORESTED CEREMONY AREA - CREEKSIDE PATIO

COVID stopped our Creekside Patio build in its tracks, but in 2022, we got back on track and finished the patio, and it turned out better than we could have ever hoped! The patio extends off the back of the Barn out towards the creek running behind the forest just down the slope. But we couldn’t have gotten it finished without God sending a helper! As he always does! Now we have the perfect intimate wedding ceremony space that also doubles as our go-to summer ceremony space as it’s fully shaded!

ALONG THE MIDDLE OF THE DECK BUILD,

GOD SENT AN EXTRA SET OF HANDS

Charlie Vagabond Hayes had stopped at K&K Motors, and Kevin, SCR owner/builder, saw Charlie pulling out a Ford motor and offered some help. At the end, Kevin pointed over to Charlie and said, “I've heard you're a pretty handy fella and a very hard worker. I've got a new deck I need to be finished off on the back side of the banquet hall out at the Ranch; think you could finish it before the wedding this weekend?! And so it was...”

Charlie came out to help make sure that Saturday’s wedding had a beautiful deck on all sides — in just eight hours, Charlie dropped 20 pounds of screws into the deck and twice as many the next day. Charlie, a follower of the recycled life himself, said, “The amount of upcycled materials Kevin used at SCR makes my heart so very happy!”

Cut from 1930s-era tank steel and bolted together, we created our tree protectors for the Creekside Patio. These repurposed pieces came from the Permian Basin from the Sinclair Tank Farm in Kermit, TX. Here are a few photos of Kevin and Allen after putting these creative tree coverings on!

A lot of SCR’s repurposed materials come from 1920-40s steel. Looking hard, you’ll see amazing stamped tell throughout the Barn from the 1920s. SCR is vintage in the very real sense of the word!
