Dan and Kristin were immediately beloved by the SCR team. They came to tour in the middle of a hard day when Dad and Allen worked late into the night that entire week. These two sweethearts came in with open arms and an understanding of what a hard day’s work looks like, and appreciation for the sweat and love that goes into everything we build at SCR, big or small.

It was clear from the first phone call between Kristin and Kalli that SCR and this marriage celebration would be a match made in heaven. Kristin is from NY, Dan is from Graham, where SCR is nestled into the Palo Pino Mountains right up against Possum Kingdom Lake. These two spend countless summer days at Dan’s families PK Lake house, and getting married next door would be so special. We hear this a lot from couples who are from the West Texas region but spend family time at PK Lake. This makes SCR a memorable destination wedding weekend!

With Kristin’s family traveling from out of state, the venue not only needed to be stunning but also speak to what Kristin had a fall in love with, a Texan and small-town “Graham Boy.” SCR is only part of the whole, the whole being our sweet small-town, amazing local business that rivals any DFW vendors, and the beautiful landscape with lots of entertain their guests from the Wildcatter to PK Lake and the Forts Trail—choosing Labor Day weekend allowed for extra travel days for her family and extra time to sink in and relax and celebrate without the rush too.

BRIDAL GLAM - THE MOST STUNNING BOHO BRIDE

Kristin is a kind, driven, and beautiful woman with a heart full of love and ambition - you can tell. That is exactly the kind of bride we love working with! Something about a bride who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to do the work and look gorgeous doing it. Her love for the Lord and Dan is evident from just a hand full of conversations. Dan is the dream husband. Again, you can just tell. A man after God’s own heart who will put his wife and family just after his relationship with the Lord.

She added the SCR Bridal Loft for a place to take photos and add a clean, relaxing space for her bridesmaids to hang out post-getting ready!

Have a first look with mom and dad is so special, and the SCR Loft is the perfect place to do that! The balcony is used so many times during a wedding day!

Kristin and Dan did their first look in the Boxcar Room! This was a first, and so much fun to see the whole moment unravel as she came down the stairs to meet her groom! We do highly recommend a first look, especially for summer weddings, to make sure you aren’t rushed for photos once the sun starts going down. This is also the only real time you have to talk to each other and really spend some quality, alone time sinking into the moment of the day.

BRIDE’S REVIEW - North Texas Wedding Venue SCR

Rustic meets chic in the most enchanting fairy tale dream barn! From the moment we set foot on Sparrow Creek Ranch, I knew there was no other place in the world that I wanted to get married.

Kevin and Kalli have created the most magical place and have poured their hearts and souls into creating the most captivating and picturesque venue. Their compassion and charisma are incredibly apparent through and through and they truly were a blessing to work with!

Kalli went above and beyond in every conversation to ease any stress I had or answer any questions that I posed. Her level of commitment, communication, and accessibility were more than I ever could have asked for, and she truly was a dream to work with!

The weekend of our wedding, Kevin and Allen made sure that every detail was in place and that we had everything we needed, from the decor to the tables and chairs. Their communication was also a soothing factor while setting up Friday prior to our wedding.

Every angle of this venue speaks for itself, and Kalli and Kevin only add to the alluring characteristics of this charming more-than-a-barn venue! Our wedding day was so surreal, thanks to the astounding Sparrow Creek Ranch property, and it was everything that I dreamt it would be! We love y’all, SCR family!

CEREMONY PHOTOS - THE GROVE

Kristin was detailed from the start and knew exactly what she wanted her dreamy Texas Ranch Wedding to look like. Kalli knew early on this was going to be one of SCR’s most beautiful weddings and that was an understment in reality! The love and care Kristin put into each decision to honor the Lord, honor her marriage, and create a beautiful day that reflected her and Dan’s character was so evident. Kristin used all of SCR’s many resources to the fullest! It is so exciting for us when a bride and groom lean into the tools we provide. One of which is a large planning google sheet that has numerous helpful sections that these two used and then more (adding their own sections). Wedding planning takes at least 200 hours on average, and with our tools, those hours start to get more organized and keep our couples focused!

COCKTAIL HOUR ON THE CREEKSIDE PATIO

The Schmits were one of the first couples to use the Creekside Patio for cocktail hour! It was the perfect fully-shaded space. Plus, this gives the bride and groom the fun chance of looking over the balcony and having a private toast before heading down the repurposed oil-field staircase for their grand entrance!

WEDDING PARTY - RUSTIC - BOHO BRIDESMAIDS

Kristin chose a Rustic Boho wedding design encompassing her ranch bridal look and the overall barn wedding decor. Rust is a very popular color for boho brides as it blends so well with dried florals, pampas grass, and other earth tones often seen in boho wedding designs. Kristin did it so beautifully! Her wedding party was lovely in their desert and rust-colored dresses that highlighted Kristin in her western bridal look with books and, of course, a hat to spice up portraits!

RECEPTION PHOTOS & WEDDING DETAILS

Double Knot Weddings knows how to capture at SCR reception under the antique chandeliers like no other! The industrial undertones and rustic glam that North Texas couples love were displayed this evening with the gorgeous florals and details.

SUPRISE PROPOSAL!

We had a trip planned to hike all 5 national parks in Utah. Dan reached out to local photographer to set up a suprise proposal. They found a spot and worked out the details. Dan had to pack clothes for Kristin for the photoshoot afterwards since we would be in athletic clothes since we flew in the same day. We stopped by a brewery to kill time for the sun to set. We finished early, so still needed to kill time; Dan sent Kristin into a shop. This killed time but also almost put us behind schedule. Kristin thought we were driving to camp site. Dan pulls over and says let’s do a quick hike to see this river; there was no river. The photographer was hiding in the trees. We hike to the spot, and Dan gets on one knee and proposes. Dan grabbed the wrong hand at first, but the proposal happened and Kristin said Yes. Dan pulled out a bag of clothes and we changed for a photoshoot.
