Handcrafted Farmhouse Tables for our Vintage Venue

When things shut down in our world and we thought we'd just be closed for a short time, the first thing we did was pull together our favorite, collected railroad ties to make our venue’s very own farmhouse tables.

The space in front of our antique mirror wall has always been a favorite for wedding party’s to feature their head table, so we jumped at the chance to add handmade, wooden farmhouse tables for all of our couples and families to enjoy.

Hard at work

Dad, aka Kevin, George, Kalli's husband, and their son Hays went to work - designing, sawing, drilling, framing, sanding, and staining.

The hardest worker of all was Kalli’s son Hays. As you can see from the photos, Livi, Aunt Coco, and Kalli had their hands full helping with construction AND helping Hays be a helper. He was interested in touching EVERYTHING. All hands on deck over here at SCR, and we are happy to report that construction was completed safely and with a beautiful product!

Reclaimed materials

At SCR, it never crosses our mind to jump online and buy something brand new for the venue. We wait until we find what we need in a field, old building, or the sort, or we make it. We love giving materials a second life out here!!

Legs were support beams on railroad box cars and the curved cross beam is from the roof of old box cars. Top is from the floor joist of one of the old warehouse buildings deemed for demolition for being in a flood plan. I was able to salvage them and some of the wall wood in the barn. Lots came from there.

All dressed up and ready for a party!

The tables were such a fun project to put together, and we know they will get lots of use. Check out our reception photo gallery for head table and reception inspiration from all of our lovely past couples. We are grateful for all of our families out here!
