August Wedding with Luxury Florals at Sparrow Creek Ranch: Pink Roses, Blue Details, and Sunset Ceremony DFW Wedding West
Ellie and Tatum had a stunning wedding weekend the first week of August. To do so, they followed a few key rules! Our Summer Texas Weddings are very popular and wonderful as long as the couple follows the “Golden Rules of Summer Weddings.” Keep reading below to see those summer wedding guidelines in action!
THE FLOWERS
The flowers from Bellaflora Designs are the true stand out from this incredible day. Her designs for the ceremony and the barn reception are breathtaking. She is a new DFW florist with an artful eye for enhancing the beautiful spaces at SCR with a funny side! If you are looking for a florist with unique designs, consider Bellaflora; she will not disappoint!
CREEKSIDE PATIO - Perfect DFW Summer Wedding Ceremony Site
Our couples who book June-September use the Creekside Patio for their ceremony as it is shaded! Guest experience is key to any wedding but especially to a summer wedding. Having a shaded ceremony site June-September is the only way to go! And it’s stunning if we do say so. The string lights overhead are the perfect match to our bistro chairs our couples can add to their package to give their ceremony or reception a touch of Tuscany vibes.
Wedding ceremonies outside follow the strict sunset rule — the ceremony should be no more than 1.5 hours before sunset for a Texas summer wedding. This means ceremonies are late in the evening, usually around 7 pm. Because the ceremonies are late, we have several “tips” to keep your guests happy and excited for the reception to start!
TIPS FOR SUMMER WEDDING GUEST EXPERIENCE
1) Consider a Pre-Ceremony Cocktail hour!
Yes really! Cocktail hours are really meant for winter weddings. A winter ceremony, again 1-2 hours before sunset, are around 4 pm in the afternoon. This means couples need to come up with guest activities to hold off dinner until at least 6 pm. Thus cocktail hour. For a summer wedding, you have the opposite situation. Because summer ceremonies start so late, you want guests to be released almost immediately after the ceremony to dinner at 7:30 pm so you can start dancing soon after! Thus summer weddings skip cocktail hour altogether, unless it is before the ceremony.
2) If not a full pre-ceremony cocktail hour, have at least a welcome period before the ceremony
Give your guests a reason to get settled before ceremony with their hellos so post-ceremony reception can start quickly and the energy level will be high. You’ll be surprised how much energy it brings to a ceremony and reception to have guests already familiar with the space and each other!
And, during this time, since it’s getting close to dinner, have some lite bites or appetizers like grazing cups and tea available. Better yet, have snow cones or sweet treats for your guests to enjoy during the ceremony while the sun is still out during your summer wedding. We have the most amazing local shaved ice vendor; you can find them HERE.
COUPLES PHOTOS AND FIRST LOOK at AUGUST WEDDING
August weddings in North Texas have the luxury of the perfect color palette for outside landscape photos. The golden grass of summer is the perfect contrast to the oaks and cedars across the property. This contrast gives the bride and groom center stage! Portraits during the winter and summer when the grass is gold are some of our favorites.
WEDDING PARTY PHOTOS with BLUE and PINK DETAILS
This wedding had the most dreamy colors, with light pink roses and blue accent flowers to match the pink dresses and blue suits of the wedding party. These colors gave the summer wedding a lighter touch that felt airy and whimsical. Luxury florals like this are every bride’s dream, and Bellafloral has become a SCR bridal favorite!
DETAILS AND WEDDING BARN RECEPTION PHOTOS
This day wouldn’t be nearly as memorable without the fantastic work from Madison Rose Photography, who we adore at SCR. She has a wild heart but an eye for elegant lines. Her golden hour photos are stunning time and again. We highly recommend her and hope to see her for many years to come at SCR.
SCR’s antique venue of repurposed industrial materials accented with vintage chandeliers creates a one-of-a-kind DFW wedding venue that couples come from all across the country to experience. Brides wanting an elegant, vintage wedding with the ranch too love the romantic look of Sparrow Creek Ranch. Look at Ellie’s stunning reception for inspiration on how to add to the natural beauty of SCR.
