Night-Time Wedding Ceremony: A Unique and Romantic Option

Traditionally, wedding ceremonies occur in the late afternoon, two hours before sunset. This gives the couple enough time for the ceremony, post-ceremony family photos, and private newlywed portraits. However, this couple decided to buck tradition and have a night-time wedding ceremony!

Having the ceremony at night has obvious challenges, but the romantic experience might be worth it! The twinkling lights and soft music create a magical atmosphere that is perfect for a wedding that your guests will always remember as truly unique.

NIGHTTIME CEREMONY —- THE PHOTOGRAPHER IS EVERYTHING

If you are considering a night-time wedding ceremony, the most important consideration is a fantastic and skilled photographer who has years of experience at your wedding venue. Emily Short Photography is not only a SCR bride herself, but captured dozens of SCR weddings over the last decade. She knows all the spaces, and lighting, and understands the logistics of a nighttime ceremony so you can enjoy it!

Here is an example of a night-time wedding ceremony at our Western-style wedding venue’s Creekside Patio. The couple chose to have their ceremony on our Creekside Patio, a romantic spot with overhanging cafe lights. The bride wore a beautiful lace gown, and the groom wore a classic cowboy tux. The vows were exchanged under the twinkling lights and every guest was taken aback by this perfectly unique evening. The reception was decorated with candles and dried florals with amazing boho-western touches from Southern Jeweled — a vintage rental company and event planning team we love at SCR. The couple danced the night away and had the time of their lives.

Tips for Planning a Night-Time Wedding Ceremony

  • Choose the ceremony space with overhanging cafe lights

  • Hire an experienced photographer the venue recommends

  • We’d recommend a first look, or at least first touch since you wont have “golden hour” for post-ceremony photos

  • Decorate with candles and glass so the light is reflective

  • Enjoy the night!

THE BALCONY

The Baloncy overlooking the Creekside Patio at SCR is perfect for bridals and first looks — it’s covered for rain or shine, shade or sun! For those in the oil industry, you’ll love this balcony repurposed from an oil-field pip with the special twisted pipe in the middle coming from getting so hot and twisted underground it comes out like a screw!

SCR’s Bridal Loft is a perfect breath of fresh air! Our brides use the downstairs bridal suite (always included) to get ready. Those that add the Loft upstairs (an add-on) have a clean and clutter-free space to retreat to for photos and relaxing.

EVENING CANDLE-LIGHT CEREMONY

We have to share a few more of their amazing ceremony photos with you. The guests were having so much fun enjoying the evening ceremony, and it was contagious! If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind wedding feel, then this wedding should give you some ideas.
