Kalli & George | SCR’s First Wedding and the Start of this Magical Journey

Ten amazing years have gone by that The Barn at Sparrow Creek Ranch hosted its first wedding! Mine (aka Kalli) and my now husband of 10 years George celebrated our marriage at SCR in May 2012. We had no idea what we were doing but we danced all night long and our guests had an amazing time.

I am so honored to say I’ve helped over 500 couples celebrate their wedding day at SCR and can’t wait to meet and serve the next 500! CHEERS TO OUR 10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY! Thank you to all our couples and vendors who help make it happen every week. We are so blessed and honored.

Frist thank you Moma & Dad for this day and all that SCR has brought to us and my little family.

CEREMONY on The Hill Top

The Entrance

George and I got married on our Hill Top just in front of the Barn. No one has gotten married here since in our example location. Mostly because it wasn’t the best spot! It’s amazing to us how obvious The Grove is now, but then we just didn’t “see” that beautiful spot right in front of the barn. I wanted to be surrounded by the little trees and have a special “drive-up” moment with my dad.

When Pastor Joe said “everyone rise” and I wasn’t anywhere to be seen that was the signal for the Barn doors to open and my dad to drive me out and around the hill up to the aisle. It was the most special moment where my dad and I got to be together, just us, in all that anticipation filling up the 1969 White Road Runner of his we were in. I still have people tell me how amazing it was to see my dad driving me up. He’s always been into cars and Mopar muscle cars were a stape of my childhood. No doubt this was one of my favorite parts of the wedding day.

Ceremony Time

Putting on the Dress & Wedding Party Photos

There weren’t permanent bathrooms or a bridal suite when I got married. Remember we never intended to host weddings past this day! So I got ready at my parent’s house and just come to put my dress on at the Barn beforehand.

George & Groomsmen

Geroge and his groomsmen had a cabin or two at the Wildcatter Ranch just a mile up the road from SCR. For years our couples have loved having their guests and themselves stay at the Wildcatter and other local resorts. Now we’re excited to host a few at our on-site lodging too!

DIY DETAILS and SCR VINTAGE DECOR PIECES WE STILL LOVE

How amazing it is to see our couples still using our Giant Chalkboard, the giant Picnic Tables, suitcases, fireplace mantel, and so many more special pieces at SCR! Our sweetheart table was the little table now in the Bridal Suite! My sweet sister Constance drew the drop cloth verses to help add some character to the bare walls.

My bouquet was my sweetheart table arrangement after the ceremony and my bridesmaids all had a designated vase for their bouquets as well — they are the five coral rose bunches.

Can you spot them in our full-on DIY wedding? My mom, sister, and I did almost all the decor over several months. We hardly bought anything since my mom graciously let me simply borrow all her home decor! We hodgepodge all the vases, used my mom’s old books, and even picked most of the wildflowers from SCR to go in the vases.

SCR’s First-Ever Reception

DANCING THE NIGHT AWAY

George and I’s priority was a band. We put that first and everything else was secondary and very simple and we wouldn’t change a thing! We danced all night long and didn’t waste any time on things that didn’t matter to us.

SCR’S FRIST MR & MRS

We are so thankful to all our families who worked so hard to make this possible and then to be part of what it has turned into. Sharing this special place with all of you is a dream and a blessing. We pray SCR continues to be a place where marriage is honored and God is a guest of honor of all who say “I Do,” at SCR.
