SUMMER, SUNSET CEREMONIES

SCR isn’t shy about Summer Weddings here in North Texas. We host weddings all summer, but to do so, we emphasize to our couples the critical rule that makes a summer wedding possible — Sunset Ceremonies.

You can’t get married at SCR in the summer without considering the heat and sunset. Ceremonies, year round but especially during summer, should be no earlier than 1.5 hours before sunset. Simply google your day, town, and sunset to get that time and go back 1.5 hours.

When you follow this rule, your guests arrive and are greeted with cold water or snowcone (seriously, we love seeing that!) they will move to that Creekside Patio that is shaded! They will watch you and your love get married and then move into the Barn for an evening reception to celebrate with joy!

SUMMER WEDDING RULES

1. Guests are greeted with cold water, tea, or snowcone.

2. Ceremony starts no earlier than 1.5 hours before sunset

3. Ceremony is in the shade, like The Creekside Patio

4. First Look and all family photos (except the big group shots) were taken before the ceremony to allow the couple to enter the reception soon after the ceremony since the summer timeline is later in the evening.

CEREMONY & DETAILS

This wedding took place before the Creekside Patio was complete, thus, they got married at the Grove which is in full sun until 1 hour before the ceremony. That meant these two had an extended first look, so all their portraits were taken before the ceremony. The ceremony was only one hour before sunset allowing the guests to have shade, otherwise, ceremony here wouldn’t have been an option.

NORTH TEXAS WEDDING RECEPTION

FIRST LOOK, A SUMMER WEDDING MUST

Summer weddings, because the ceremony starts late (6:30-7 pm), couples need to utilize as much time before the ceremony for photos as possible. Otherwise, they are taking away time at their reception. Winter couples often have the opposite problem — with ceremonies at 4 pm, they need a cocktail hour and mingling time to avoid a 4:30 pm dinner and 9 pm reception exit.

This day was perfect because the couple followed the Summer Wedding Rules and loved their day!

BRIDES REVIEW

I came across this venue by complete accident on Facebook and i am so glad I did! It looked absolutely perfect, the only problem was that we weren't engaged yet. I kept Sparrow Creek in the back of my mind for 3 months before my now husband proposed! As soon as he did, I made an appointment to see the Barn in person. It was better than the pictures! I am a very DIY person and I knew I would want to do lots of projects for my own wedding. Sparrow Creek is the absolute best venue for that! We got married on August 7th, it was hot during the day, we had our ceremony at 7. However, we had waters and fans for our guests and they were all comfortable. Kalli is amazing to work with, she responds so quickly. I highly recommend spending the extra money on the weekend package so you can take your time with setup and everything. There was no rush to get the decorations done and the venders had tons of time to set up.

I cannot say enough amazing things about Sparrow Creek Ranch!! It was a dream come true and our wedding was absolutely perfect!
